Tourism and Environment Minister Ünal Üstel who carried out a variety of contacts in Ankara last week evaluated his visit.
He said that in order for the number of foreign tourists visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to increase Turkey has promised significant support in this respect and added that tourists who come from the Far East and Asia and receive a single entry visa to Turkey will also be able to enter the TRNC with this visa.
During his visit to Ankara Minister Üstel came together with the Turkish Minister for Culture and tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
Issuing a written statement regarding his meetings with the two men, Minister Üstel said that his meetings had been very fruitful and added that they had found the opportunity to discuss ways to increase the tourism potential of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
According to the decisions taken during the meeting he said that they had come to an agreement for a transportation and promotion policy to be formed for North Cyprus and for North Cyprus to become a brand.
It was also decided that the TRNC will be included in the Turkey Tourism Promotion Agency, for a 2023 Tourism Strategy plan to be developed and for third world country tourists that receive single entry visa for Turkey to be able to use these visas in the TRNC as well.
They also agreed to work towards increasing the number of tourists in the TRNC and for the TRNC to take part together with Turkey at road shows and other promotional events among other agreements.
Reducing prices of airfares and a reduced fare price for students were also taken up during the meeting.
