Prime Minister Ersin Tatar has said the leadership shown by Turkey on the issue of hydrocarbons in the Eastern Mediterranean gave confidence to the Turkish Cypriot people.
Tatar’s words came during a visit paid to him today by a delegation from the Anamur Muncipality and Anamur Chamber of Industry in Turkey.
Prime Minister Tatar pointed out that the Greek Cypriot administration had signed a number of deals with international firms as a result of its international recognition.
He said that these agreements were a direct infringement and violation of the rights of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Recalling that Turkish Cypriots were one of the two partners of the 1960 Cyprus Republic, Tatar said that the Turkish Cypriot people had rights over the island’s natural resources.
The Prime Minister also pointed out to the importance of developing relations between the two countries.
He reminded that the water supplied from Turkey via the pipeline was extremely important for the Turkish Cypriot people.
Also speaking the Mayor of Anamur Hidayet Kılınç invited Prime Minister Tatar to the 6th Agricultural Fair which will take place in Anamur from 23-26 April.
