The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has met with his Special Representative for Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar.
The meeting which took place at the UN Headquarters in New York was announced by the UN Secretary General via twitter.
“Our UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus is our first to have three women in charge of its military, police and civilian staff. I had an inspiring conversation with Mission chief Elizabeth Spehar about the importance of women peacekeepers” Guterres tweeted, along with a photograph from the meeting.
The UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Cyprus and Chief of UNFICYP Mission Elizabeth Spehar will be briefing the UN Security Council on the 23rd of January.
The UN Security Council is expected to approve the final version of the report on the extension of UNFICYP’s mandate on the 30th of January.
