Today is the 8th of March International Women’s Day and several activities are being held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to mark the day.
The Cyprus Turkish Women’s Association placed a wreath at the Atatürk Monument, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Monument and Zübeyde Hanım’s monument in the capital Lefkoşa.
The Women’s Association then paid a visit to Süheyla Küçük.
Meanwhile Bayrak Radio Television Corporation’s Union Bay-Sen gave a reception at the BRTK premises to mark the day.
The Cyprus Turkish Public Workers Union KTAMS also gave a reception for its women members at the KTAMS 50 year Salon.
President Mustafa Akıncı and first lady Meral Akıncı are hosting a reception tonight at the presidential palace in honour of the day.
Women’s Branches of a variety of political parties and civil society organisations have all organised activities that will take place throughout the day.
