The government program of the four way coalition of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP)-People’s Party (HP)-Social Democratic Party (TDP)-Democrat Party (DP) was read out at the parliament today by Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman.
A debate will be held on the new government’s program on Monday, the 12th of January, two full days after the program is read out.
If the debates on the government program are completed before midnight on Monday, a vote of confidence will be held in parliament for the new government on Wednesday, the 14th of February, a day after the discussions are completed.
However, if the debates on the government program are completed after midnight then a vote of confidence will be held on Thursday, the 15th of February.
Meanwhile, following the completion of the reading out of the government program the Republic’s Assembly will elect a new speaker of parliament and parliamentary bureau later today.
In order to be elected as the new Speaker of the Parliament, a candidate should receive at least 26 votes in any of the first 4 rounds, if not should receive the majority of the votes in the 5th round.
