President Mustafa Akıncı was briefed yesterday by the Director of the Cartographic Department Ahmet Alemdar on problematic areas in stream and river beds across the country.
In a statement issued by the President’s office, President Akıncı said that it was important to learn lessons from natural disasters and to take necessary measures in advance to prevent loss of life or property.
“We have left behind a wet winter. Now that the rains are over it is time to take necessary measures. This is one of the issues the new government must urgently address. The Presidency shall continue to pursue the matter,” he said.
